Willow Theatre Productions

We have a sister company, Willow Theatre Productions, whose aim is to create intimate, powerful and thought-provoking pieces.

Willow Theatre Productions is dedicated to putting women’s stories at the forefront, using works with strong female protagonists.

Blue Stockings (2024)

by Jessica Swale

A moving, comical and eye-opening story of four young women fighting for education and self-determination against the larger backdrop of women's suffrage. Originally performed at the Globe in 2013, Jessica Swale’s work tells the story of the students and teachers at Girton College, Cambridge, (the first residential institution offering university level education for girls) in their fight to graduate with a degree awarded. The play follows the period before a vote is taken to decide if they can be given a degree and the repercussions of its results.

"Willow Theatre Productions has relished the opportunity to bring this moving production to this theatre." - Pauline Hardie

Be My Baby (2018)

by Amanda Whittington

Willow Theatre Productions gave birth to their debut show and touched the audiences with their sensitive portrayal of the plight of unmarried mothers in the 1960s. The all female cast took us through a gamut of emotions as they played out the story of a group of young women banished to a mother and baby home, knowing little of what was ahead for them during pregnancy, birth and beyond.

"This brave and bold group of women with a vision to create quality theatre shows in Blackpool deserve to grow a strong and powerful reputation as their company progresses." - Linda Hampton
